Are You Having a Kebabylon?

Working in the Jewellery Quarter has meant that I have been able to try a number of new places. So when I was invited to try out Kebabylon at 1000 Trades, I jumped at the chance. Kebabylon has a 2 week residency at 1000 Trades, of which there is a week left, so read on to see why you need to try it out TODAY!

After perusing the menu for several minutes, I decided I wanted everything! But I went for the You 'Aving a Falafel and Avocado Black Bean Wrap, as well as the Grilled Avocado with Scotch Bonnet Pink Slaw and Sweet Potato Fries with Guacamole, The stand-out dish for me was the Grilled Avocado. If you know me you know that I love avocado and having it in this way is totally new to me but I loved it, I also loved the way they served it, with a gorgeous mixed salad and the slaw wasn't saddled with mayo, which is a plus in my eyes and the slight heat from the scotch bonnet was beautiful. I could've handled it a bit spicier but loved it all the same. The Sweet Potato and Guacamole was a close second. The Sweet Potato was beautifully made, the perfect amount of crunch to a lovely soft centre and the guac was creamy yet flavourful.

The wraps were nice but no where near as nice as the other options I tried. The falafel felt like it could have been a little better and tasted a little like the options that Cauldron sell. I loved the salad that was in the Avocado Black Bean Wrap, as well as the chunky avo pieces. I think as both had hummus omitted from them, because it contained lime yogurt, it meant that something was missing and you could really tell.

Overall, as you can tell from this image above, I really enjoyed the food and hope to go again before their residency at 1000 Trades is up. They were able to cater to my dietary needs with no hesitation or fuss, which is always a plus in my eyes. So, whether you are gluten-free, dairy-free or even vegan, you will have options here. I highly recommend the Sweet Potato Fries with Guacamole and the Grilled Avo! I liked the layout of the venue and how chilled it is. I will definitely keep it in mind for when I am thinking of a place for a catch-up drink.

Many thanks to Vicki from Brumderland for the awesome image of me. That lady basically captured my love of food in that image! I also would like to thank the lovely folks at 1000 Trades for catering to my dairy-free diet and for extending the invite to me and a few other members of the Brum Bloggers Collective.
