My Food Place of the Week: Madeleine

I think Madeline will become my new favourite spot to go for lunch, for something filling, unique and satisfying. It is located in The Cube (within the Mailbox) and it is a quaint and idyllic spot that everyone needs to try.

They have an array of sandwiches, cakes and salads that are all made fresh on site.

They have a good selection of drinks, especially those that they make in house, like the Green Tea Lemonade I had. The prices are reasonable, considering the portions and quality of the food.

They have a breakfast and lunch menu that is varied but again both have a little selection of offerings for vegans or lactose intolerance sufferings.

I did not have much choice, as there is not many things suffers of lactose intolerance can have but there two of the salads that I could have. That was the rice and hummus, poached eggs and sourdough bread with olives. The rice was beautifully moreish and had pieces of walnuts and red chili peppers inside. The eggs had chives and black pepper on it and the hummus was lovely, soft and you could tell it was fresh. The eggs were a beautiful addition to the hummus, a combination I haven't thought or done before but it went perfectly. Then with the sourdough bread, which was crunchy but melted in your mouth, the pieces of olives were not strong and were the perfect size within the bread. The portion was huge, it tasted AMAZING, was seasoned well, was fresh but not greasy or heavy on my stomach. The only thing I didn't like was they seem to add black pepper to everything, maybe change this up with some oregano or cayenne pepper, just for some variety.

The Green Tea Lemonade had a slice of lime inside, it was tasty and refreshing, not something that was overtly strong or overpowering. There is a lovely view from the restaurant, it is very relaxing and not pretentious in the slightest. It has a Mediterranean coffee shop feel and has a food selection to match that. There is also free WIFI, so it is the perfect spot to get some blog posts done and enjoy a bite to eat, something I will be doing in the future.

As you can see, the portion was huge and I had to leave some of the hummus, something I hate to do. Because I know later, when I do get hungry, I will think of the food I left.

Anyways, aside from my idiosyncrasies, I would like to thank the lovely staff at Madeline, Agata and Lewis, who helped me choose what to have and were very helpful in pointing out what was suitable for my intolerance's. There is a good selection at Madeline for vegetarians and meat eaters and although the selection for vegans and lactose intolerance sufferers is scarce, it is still a good quality selection.

Cannot wait to back soon
