Not Dogs: The Vegan Christmas Options

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, then you would know that I have been wondering around Birmingham looking for the best vegan Christmas options. I've found a few but when you find one at an independent eatery, it's so much better. So venturing to Not Dogs to try out their Christmas options was a dream, especially as it's been nearly a year since the place opened in The Link between the Bullring and Grand Central.

Since the last time I visited, the eatery has grown their menu. And as of the 1st December, this now includes their three new Christmas options, which I was able to sample at this event.

First up it was Santa's Stilton Surprise (£4.75). This was a Quorn hot dog that was topped with Christmas-spiced caramelised red onions finished with a sprinkling of crumbled stilton. It was really interesting to see that this was vegan and it was quite tasty but the cheese was too strong for my personal preference. Plus vegan cheese and I don't get on and the smell of this one put me off. But the combo of the not dog with the cheese and onions worked well. And if you're a cheese lover, I reckon this would be ideal for you.

You know I had to get a Sausage Selfie!

Next up was my favourite option, The Christmas Burger aka The Burger with Bells on £4.75. This was a 'chicken' burger topped with spinach, sage and onion stuffing, cranberry sauce and mayo. Minus the mayo to make it vegan for me. It was so friggin' good! It reminded me of a Filet-o-fish from McDonald's but the Christmas version of it, which is with the addition of the homemade cranberry sauce. The patty was crispy on the outside, which the ladies told me is due to fries, and a soft centre and all the flavours worked so well together. It was just awesome! It's Christmas in a burger and I highly recommend it!

We also tried a Christmas Pudding Shake, which was interesting but needed more Christmas Pudding flavour to it, as it tasted of rice milk mostly. I have seen that this has been amended to a Gingerbread Cream Shake £3.95, which sounds really tasty to me.  Definitely, need to go back to try that!

Whilst I was there, I also tried a couple more vegan options on the menu. Such as this Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Shake. Super tasty and creamy and it worked so well with rice milk. The other option I tried was The Queen B Burger, which was basically a quarter pounder topped with cheese, lettuce, onions and a special sauce. The burger was so good, that I was wondering whether if it actually did contain meat. But my tastebuds favoured the Christmas Burger and I will definitely be going back for that.

It was a lovely vegan event and it was ace to see a number of Brum Bloggers in attendance.

It was also great to see the Katie and Jane, aka the ladies behind Not Dogs and get this cheeky selfie. Cannot wait to see how these ladies build up this business.. Thank you, ladies, for the chance to try out the new vegan options on the menu. I look forward to coming back for more soon.
